Indonesia is hoping to seal a free trade agreement (FTA) with Australia in 2017, followed by a comprehensive economic partnership agreement (CEPA) with the European Union in 2018. Currently, Indonesia has not only developed free market policy between ASEAN country members but also develop the cooperation with other Countries. I can limit the FTA is as the globalization that includes west culture which come in Indonesia. In economic point of view, I hope that Indonesia is more develop, and this FTA cannot make rich people becomes richer, and poor people becomes poorer.
Here, I will deliver two points of view those are ; (1) the social point of view that include the impacts to work culture and local culture, and (2) the smart ways to face the FTA as Character PV. Those points of view will represent the effect of FTA 2018 to Indonesian Culture. As we know, culture is accumulative of our habbit. Indonesia is a country that has local culture like. It includes the language, custom, tradition, an art, ethics, and politeness that be gotten by Indonesian in many ways.
(1) Indonesia has many languages to speak from every region like Javanese, Sudanese, Balinese, Maduranese, Borneo, and so on. But, it can be disappear because of English and Indonesia itself. In a big city or a village, many people who speak by using Indonesian because Indonesian artist in TV or movie talk with it or International artist speak in English, and it is imitated. Then, it makes them become shy to speak region language. That’s a little example. (2) One example, Bersih desa (Clean the village) is one of customs in Indonesia to give many food in a Punden (Punden is like a big tree or sacred place) then many people who pray together there. Actually, we don’t pray for the place, but we pray to the god and thankful for giving a goodness in a life. Now, it is almost disappear because some people say that it is waste the time to do. Even though it can be good tradition to meet all people, they are lazy to do. They think that watching movie, listening music, and playing the game are better than doing it. How u can imagine that the some customs of Indonesians are disappear, so what unique of Indonesia? Art is about Indonesian’s traditional dance which be recognized in many countries. There are many arts that we have, but just some people to learn it till the west culture comes to change everything. The example is based on tempo.com (2012) Malaysia has claimed some culture of Indonesia like Reog Ponorogo, Rasa Sayange as maluku’s song, pendet dance from bali, totor dance, and gordang sambilan from Mandailing. The foreign people who don’t live in Indonesia can do that, how if the live in Indonesia? What do they take all Indonesian culture? There is a country which recognizes our culture, and Indonesians are angry. But, they don’t want to learn them. So, what should be to do? We follow west culture, but we don’t care about our culture. Then if we talk about ethic and politeness, there is no country in this world like Indonesia that the people are polite, respect, and care to other people. Indonesia is a home for all people in the world. Unfortunately, the west culture by coming with FTA change those, it makes the some Indonesian are more uncared and egoism.

(2) In the other hand, FTA as the globalization includes the bad impacts those are Acculturation that change the ethics like young people kiss the old people’s hand to respect them, but nowdays they kiss by touching cheek. So, it can change the custom that has been lived a long time ago. Then, the imitation is about style clothes, violence, language, and attitude. The west movies show west style like hair and clothes style. Sometimes, it is negative such the hair is not tidy, the clothes is opened, and piercing in some parts of body. As we know, Indonesian is wise to wear clothes and treat the body. Then, the west movies show the violence and it is imated by the children. The impact is making the students do it with the friends.
(3) Then, I will discuss about the impact of globalization in our work culture. Although many bad impacts that happen, we have some good impacts of it those are (1) we can learn about the value of social culture, the ways of life, great mindset, knowlagde, and technology that can be apply in work culture. As we know, we can learn everything from the developed country. Indonesia looks like funny country. It is known from social media such “wkwk island and telolet” phenomenon. It could be tranding topic in long time ago. Depend on the little example, every country can be famous because of the technology. And the technology is from west country. FTA makes the Indonesian could be stronger by developing work ethic, hard work, dicipline, independence, rational, sportive, and so on. The question is why is the Indonesian who work in other country, they just can be housemaid and foreign people who work in Indonesia can be a boss?? The answer is as simply as they know the work hard and education when they were a baby. When its character can be applied in Indonesia in long time ago, Indonesian can be a boss in the country. As we know, Indonesian is spoiled and lulled by the condition. They also have leadership ability and Indonesians have no. So, that is why in this own country, Indonesian can be housemaid not a boss and the boss is foreign people (most of Chinese). When they are rich, they don’t work properly. When they are poor, they are lazy to work. When the boss is foreign people, Indonesian must obey the rules or they will lose the job. It makes Indonesian is more dicipline. So, the conclusion is some good characteristic from foreign people that will apply in Indonesia makes Indonesians has good character especially in working.
